The Pink Flower.

That Pink flower is beautiful.
I can see it’s beauty, smell its beauty.
I don’t need to name its beauty.
I don’t need to be able to read to see it’s a Pink beautiful flower.
Writing its name does not make it beautiful.
It stands alone.
It’s Pink and beautiful.

Naming it takes me away from its beauty.
Labels it.
Sets out a list of standards that it should conform to.
Height, colour, scent.
If it does not conform we are disappointed reject it.
But it’s still a beautiful Pink flower .

No name, no label nothing to conform to.
No one to disappoint.
It’s just enjoyed for being a Pink  flower.
Created to grow, from a tiny seed to a Pink flower .
Created not for us to enjoy.
But to survive, flower and grow to its full potential.

Just look see and enjoy.
It’s no more difficult than that.
See it smell it, remember it.
Learn its name if you must,
Rose ,carnation or pink daffodil it does not matter.
What does matter is you love it, care for it.
Remember the one that created it.

All things bright and beautiful

Day Thirty Two  – Friendship  – Lent challenge

Walked to work with lots to think about and pray about, I started in tears and ended in smiles and tears.
As I  walked  the hymn  All things bright and beautiful came into my head and I used it as my prayer .
I just said it out loud slowly as I walked , each word  reflecting on Gods  amazing creation all around me. Newly  formed leaves uncurling, the darkness  of winter was being pushed out with the new life, new beginnings, the blossom the bird song everything was sort of saying, how can you possibly be so  sad  and full of tears this morning when surrounded by God  and all his  beauty?
I  remembered we sang All things bright and beautiful at the funeral of a very special  friend , a true friend and a beautiful lady that had a wonderful and a natural earthy connection to our world.
Her green fingers and warm heart left a huge hole in my life when she died.
It was a friendship of over 30 years  she never talked about her faith to me, until I found mine ( I never told her ) , it was like she knew when I found God . She could see the little change in me that others could not .
I visited her regularly, dropping in shopping and just doing little things , we would sit together and just hold hands , it was being together and time together that counted .
She was brave and strong and had been a nurse all her life, she was no stranger to death and  had nursed her husband and sister though cancer.
When  she discovered she had massive lump under her arm , she knew it was cancer, she did not go straight to the doctors, she did not want to  fight a fight she could not win, she excepted her time was up and she had a wonderful life and it was time to go .
When it was obvious that medical help was needed  she went to her GP and requested no treatment only palliative care and that’s what she got .
As the end grew nearer her faith and her love for God was something I had never seen in her before , death seemed to make it more reachable for her, together we  could share a prayer or just pray silently together my faith was still so new to me but offered me great comfort knowing we both felt the love of God.
My friend was many things to me , she was bright and beautiful , definitely wise and wonderful , she always brighten up my sky’s , she was never afraid to use her lips to tell.
We both wore the same glowing colours and the Lord God  made us .

Psalm 118:24 – The LORD has done it this very day; let us rejoice today and be glad.

A new place to hide

We have a tree planted in memory of my dad in our local church yard planted against a wall covered in ivy and shadowed by a massive holly tree.
This is my new place to hide away from the world a private place to pray and be with god on my own, it’s a safe place where I can cry laugh sing and pray out loud or just be quite with god.
Today I climbed up and sat on the wall ,looking out on the world through the leaves of the holly tree I listened to some music and prayed and cried and once again felt gods amazing love in our ever changing world it was such a real comfort to me to know that we have a never-changing God.
Even though everything around me has changed so much gods love never changes, gods ability to provide and meet my needs never changes .
No matter what else changes around me God will never change . In an ever-changing world, He is a never-changing God.

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Did you feel the force this Christmas.

The sun was raising  as I cycled to church Christmas morning. The  stillness of the morning filled with the anticipation of the day that was to unfold.
The bells were ringing and the light from the church added to the wonder and beauty of Christmas morning.
It was a pause a beautiful reminder of the importance of Christmas Day.
The moment was short lived as Christmas day progressed my nephew ripped into parcel after parcel. Unwrapping Star Wars figures, dead .storm trooper outfits and neff guns. Soon the day was filled with the sound of electronic gun fire; accompanied sounds effects made by an over excited six year old.
It was almost impossible to cast my mind back to the morning and that sense of peace and hope.
Star Wars theme continued into Boxing Day; a trip to the cinema to see  Star Wars  “Rouge One” heavy violence and constant battles throughout film leave thousands dead.
Deeply moved and upset best describes how I felt at the end of the film.  Moved by the story of love and hope but so upset to see our precious children are being desensitised to violence at such a young age. Trying to understand why a parent takes a child of 6 to see a film with a rating of 12A ? and why did my 6-year-old nephew spend Christmas Day pretending to kill his family?
If you asked my sister why she would say it’s because she loves her son.
Love does not give us what we want, love teaches us, guides us and allows us to trust and believe, love comes from God.

John 4

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” -1 John 4:7-12img_5084
